$1,250 per qualifying heat pump water heater, either as an instant discount with a National Grid coupon at participating Lowe's and Home Depot stores (in store or online), as a rebate after installation through the online application, or as a discount from a contractor who applies for you. Not both a coupon and a post-installation rebate.

Do I qualify?
You need to meet all 3 of these.
National Grid residential customer with an electric service account in upstate New York. Gas-only customers don't qualify.
Not available if the project is receiving incentives from NYSERDA's EmPower+ program.
Coupons are limited to one heat pump water heater per account per calendar year; buying two or more for the same address needs pre-approval. Customers who used a retail coupon can't also claim the post-installation rebate.

Has a UEF rating, current rating ≤24 amps and voltage ≤250 volts, and meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR Residential Water Heater requirements.
Qualifying <120 gallon heat pump water heating equipment.
Applying
How to apply
The 60-day limit is stated for contractor (downstream) applications; no deadline is published for customer post-installation applications.
- Choose how to get the $1,250.
Instant coupon at a participating Lowe's or Home Depot, a rebate after you install, or a contractor who deducts it and applies for you.
- Instant coupon: reserve it before you buy.
Get a coupon at ngrid.com/myinstantcoupon (nghpwhrebate.com). It arrives by email or text, is valid only for the retailer you picked, and is scanned at checkout or entered as a promo code online.
- Rebate: apply online after installation.
You or your installer complete the online application at nyscleanheat-hpwh.customerapplication.com after paying full price and installing the water heater.
- Contractor: get the discount on the invoice.
A NYS-licensed contractor deducts the incentive on the final invoice and submits the application, required within 60 days of installation.
