Applying

How to apply

Follow these steps.

  1. Find the local weatherization provider for the county or city where the home is.

DHCD doesn't take applications; the local nonprofit provider does.

  2. Apply with the provider and give income documents.

Applications are ranked after income is verified, with priority for elderly people, people with disabilities and families with children. There may be a waiting list.

  3. Energy audit.

A trained auditor inspects the home and runs diagnostic tests, which can take several hours.

  4. Provider's crew completes the work.

It can be weeks or months between the audit and the installation.

  5. Quality control inspection.
