$1,250 per heat pump water heater: an instant coupon at a participating Lowe's or Home Depot (in store or online), a discount from the distributor through your installer, or an incentive applied for after a contractor or self-installation. One rebate per account per calendar year.
Eligibility
Do I qualify?
You need to meet all 4 of these.
Active NYSEG electric customer (not a NYPA customer).
ENERGY STAR certified heat pump water heater with a UEF rating.
One heat pump water heater rebate per account per calendar year; buying two or more units for one address needs pre-approval.
Not available if NYSERDA (for example EmPower+) is paying toward the same water heater.

The program sets these minimums.
Must have a Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) rating and meet or exceed the ENERGY STAR Residential Water Heater specification.
Applying
How to apply
Contractor or self-install applications are due within 60 days of installation.
- Check eligibility on the instant rebate site.
Enter your NYSEG account number at nysegrgehpwhrebate.com and pick a retailer.
- Get a coupon by email or text.
It works only at the retailer you picked, in store in your utility's territory or online as a promo code.
- Buy the heat pump water heater with the coupon.
Or have a contractor install one and apply for the incentive within 60 days; homeowners who self-install can apply themselves.
