South Jersey Gas HVAC and Water Heating Rebates
Run by South Jersey Gas (SJG) Residential Energy Efficiency Program, administered by CLEAResult
South Jersey Gas residential customers get rebates of $400 to $1,750 for replacing a non-condensing gas furnace or boiler with a condensing model and for efficient gas water heaters, plus $100 smart thermostats and, through SJG, $100 to $200 for a central AC paired with a gas rebate. Low- and moderate-income customers get $300 more per piece of equipment.

Eligibility
Do I qualify?
You need to meet all 6 of these.
Must have an active South Jersey Gas residential account.
Furnace and boiler rebates apply only when replacing an inefficient non-condensing model with a new high-efficiency condensing model. Replacing a condensing model doesn't qualify.
You must use natural gas for home and/or water heating, depending on the equipment replaced.
Equipment must be installed by a participating contractor.

Equipment installed in newly constructed homes isn't eligible.
Apply through either your gas or your electric company, not both.

What equipment counts
The program sets these minimums for furnaces, ac and thermostats and water heaters.
- Furnaces
Gas furnace AFUE ≥ 95%, non-condensing to condensing.
- Boilers
Gas boiler AFUE 90% or higher (Tier 2 and combi Tier 1: ≥ 95%; combi Tier 2: ≥ 97%), non-condensing to condensing.
- Water heaters
Tankless UEF ≥ 0.87 (Tier 2: ≥ 0.95).
- Water heaters
Power vented gas storage tank under 55 gallons: UEF ≥ .64 medium draw, ≥ 0.68 high draw; 55 gallons or more: UEF ≥ 0.78 medium draw, ≥ 0.80 high draw.
- Thermostats
ENERGY STAR certified smart thermostat replacing a manual or conventional programmable thermostat.
- Central air conditioners
SEER2 ≥ 15.2, EER2 ≥ 12 (Tier 2: SEER2 ≥ 17).
Applying
How to apply
For products installed January 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027; apply within 120 days of purchase and no later than June 30, 2027.
- Hire a participating contractor to install qualifying equipment.
- Photograph the existing unit before it's replaced.
- Apply online or by mail or email within 120 days of purchase.
Include the paid invoice, a model/serial number verification photo and the AHRI certificate if applicable.
- Low- or moderate-income? Add census tract, program enrollment or income proof for the $300 bonus.
- Receive the rebate.
Allow 60 days after complete documentation is received.

Up to $25,000 loan
South Jersey Gas homeowners can finance $2,500 to $25,000 at 0% APR, repaid on the gas bill over up to 7 years (10 years for income-qualified customers or larger Whole Home projects), for high-efficiency furnace and boiler upgrades and Whole Home Energy Solutions projects. No fees, closing costs or collateral.
