NIPSCO Home Energy Assessment

NIPSCO customers can get a no-cost in-home energy assessment with free installed items like LED bulbs, duct sealing and a smart thermostat, plus up to $200 off air sealing and up to $700 off attic insulation.

Eligibility
Do I qualify?
You need to meet all 6 of these.
NIPSCO residential customer with active service.
The home must be more than five years old.
No NIPSCO-sponsored energy assessment or Income Qualified Weatherization in the past three years, and no NIPSCO Virtual Home Energy Assessment in the last 12 months.
The homeowner or account holder (18 or older) must be home for the whole visit, which takes 1-2 hours.
Renters need the landlord's written permission (Property Owner Authorization Form) before permanent products are installed.

How to apply
2026 funds are limited and first come, first served; air sealing and insulation work must be done before the end of the 2026 program year. Get approved before you buy anything.
- Schedule the assessment.
Use the online scheduler or call TRC at 1-800-721-7385. TRC calls to schedule, so answer calls from 800-721-7385 or 605-241-5700.
- Have the assessment.
An energy advisor reviews your HVAC system, installs free products and gives you a custom report. It takes 1-2 hours.
- Book air sealing or insulation if recommended.
A licensed insulation contractor does the work at a later appointment and takes the discount off the invoice.
