How much you get
A $50 prepaid Visa once you enroll (up to two thermostats per household), plus a $40 prepaid Visa per thermostat if you stay enrolled through the end of the season on September 30. The amount depends on which of these fits your install.

TEP residential electric customer with the electric service in your name.
An installed qualifying internet-connected smart thermostat that controls a central air conditioner or heat pump.

How to apply
You apply online.
- Get a qualifying smart thermostat.
If you don't have one, TEP's Marketplace sells them.
- Enroll online.
Use the enrollment link on TEP's Smart Rewards page.
- Take part in summer events.
Your thermostat may be pre-cooled by up to 3 degrees and then raised up to 4 degrees during events, typically 4–8 p.m., June 1 through September 30. You can opt out of any event.
- Receive the prepaid Visa cards.
$50 after enrolling, and $40 per thermostat if you remain enrolled through September 30.

Why does my thermostat cool the house before an event?
To keep you comfortable. Pre-cooling an hour or two before an event lets your air conditioner run less during the event, and the pre-cool cost is typically more than offset by the event savings.
Can I skip an event?
Yes. You can opt out of any Smart Rewards event from your phone, web browser or thermostat; for most devices, opting out of pre-cooling also opts you out of that day's event.
