Renewable Energy System Property Tax Exemption
Run by Local tax assessor and construction official (rules set by the New Jersey Division of Taxation)
When you add a certified renewable energy system such as solar panels, solar thermal, wind or geothermal to your New Jersey home, the value it adds to your assessment is exempt from property tax. Your construction official certifies the system on Form CRES and you file it with your tax assessor.
Amounts
How much you get
Exempts the increase in assessed value from the renewable energy system each year (the assessed value with the system minus the assessed value without it). It doesn't lower taxes on the rest of the property.
