Eligibility

Do I qualify?

You need to meet all 6 of these.

  • Your home is in Fayette, Kentucky.

  • You must own the home and live in it. Homes with more than one owner qualify if at least one owner lives there; owners who don't live there must also sign the mortgage.

  • Household income, by family size, at or below 80% of area median income (HUD limits). Only the income of the owner living in the home counts.

  • You can't have received emergency repair assistance before, or city rehabilitation assistance more than twice.

  • You must have clear title, no outstanding debts to LFUCG, and no major LFUCG Code Enforcement violations on the home.

  • The problem must be an emergency as determined by city staff. Storm damage and repairs covered by homeowner's or hazard insurance are not eligible.

Applying

How to apply

Follow these steps.

  1. Request or submit a preliminary application.

Call Grants and Special Programs at (859) 258-3070 to have one mailed, or use the online preliminary application.

    Go to portal.neighborlysoftware.com

  2. Gather documents and schedule a financial interview.

A financial specialist reviews your documents.

  3. Inspection and estimate.

A grant compliance officer inspects the emergency; if the cost falls within $500 to $9,800, a contractor makes a second inspection and estimate.

  4. Loan closing, then repairs.

Sign the loan and repair documents. By law there is a 3-day waiting period before work begins; don't let the contractor start before all paperwork is signed.
