Eligibility
Do I qualify?
You need to meet all 3 of these.
NIPSCO residential electric customer with active service; pickup is at the NIPSCO service address.
You must own the appliance. Refrigerators and freezers must be 10-30 cubic feet, plugged in, working and empty, and disconnected from water lines at pickup. Room air conditioners and dehumidifiers must be out of the window, unplugged and near an outlet.
An adult (18 or older) must be there at pickup.

Get approved before you buy anything.
- Schedule a pickup.
Book online or call 1-800-721-7385 (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT).
- Get the appliance ready.
Empty, plugged in and cooling (refrigerators and freezers), or removed from the window and unplugged near an outlet (room AC, dehumidifier).
- Hand it over and get paid.
The contractor confirms it works, hauls it away for recycling and the incentive is paid.
