Amounts

How much you get

The regular benefit is set by points for income, energy burden and household members (elderly, disabled, a child 6 or younger, a veteran): 1 to 4 points $160, 5 to 8 points $320, 9 to 12 points $480, 13 or more points $640. It's paid directly to your energy utility, once in a 12-month period. A separate crisis benefit of up to $500 is available once in a 12-month period after the regular benefit is used up.

Applying

How to apply

  2. Apply online in the A-to-Z Arizona Portal.

Identity is verified through ID.me, or you can apply as a guest. If you can't apply online, download a paper application from the DES LIHEAP FAQ page or get one from your local Community Action Agency, and send it by fax or mail.

  3. Answer any requests for information.

If DES asks for more information and you don't respond within 45 days, the application is closed.
