Residential Energy Efficiency Products Rebates (Empire Electric Association)

Empire Electric members get bill credits for ENERGY STAR electric appliances, including $350 for a heat pump water heater, $350 for replacing a gas stove with induction, $60-$120 for dryers, $25-$50 per smart thermostat, $100 for a whole house fan and $60 per recycled fridge or freezer.

Eligibility
Do I qualify?
You need to meet all 2 of these.
Empire Electric Association member with an active account.
Gas-to-induction replacements need a photo of the old unit. Refrigerator and freezer recycling is limited to two full-size units a year. Smart thermostats are limited to 2 per member (up to 5 line voltage).
Equipment
What equipment counts
The program sets these minimums for water heaters, appliances and furnaces, ac and thermostats.
- Heat pump water heaters
Air source heat pump water heater, 30 gallon minimum, ENERGY STAR rated.
Clothes dryers must be ENERGY STAR certified.
- Thermostats
24v standard smart thermostats must be ENERGY STAR certified; line voltage smart thermostats need not be.
Applying
How to apply
You apply online. Send it within 3 months of buying.
- Buy and install a qualifying product.
For large loads like heat pump water heaters, EEA asks you to call its Energy Management Advisor first.
- Complete the online application for that product within 90 days of purchase.
- Receive a credit on your electric bill.
Allow at least 6 to 8 weeks.
