PSE&G Appliance Recycling Program

PSE&G electric customers get free pickup of an old, working refrigerator or freezer and a rebate check: $150 per unit plus $50 for each room AC or dehumidifier picked up with it when the pickup is scheduled October 1 to December 31, 2026 (normally $100 and $35).
Amounts
How much you get
Rebate check per recycled appliance, up to two refrigerators or freezers and two room air conditioners or dehumidifiers per household per calendar year. The amount depends on which of these fits your install.

Eligibility
Do I qualify?
You need to meet all 3 of these.
Current PSE&G customer with residential electric service, or a Butler Electric customer with PSE&G residential gas service; the rebate check goes to the person on the PSE&G account.
You must own the appliance, and it must be picked up at your PSE&G service address. Renters who own the appliance and hold the PSE&G account qualify.
Refrigerators and freezers must be 10 to 30 cubic feet and in working order; compact/mini units and Sub-Zero appliances are not eligible. Room ACs and dehumidifiers must be working and picked up with a refrigerator or freezer.

How to apply
Fall Haul-Away rebate amounts ($150 / $50) need a pickup scheduled between October 1 and December 31, 2026 and completed by February 13, 2027.
- Schedule a free pickup online or by calling 1-844-356-4608.
- Prepare the appliance.
Empty, clean, defrosted, waterline disconnected, plugged in for in-home pickups; a signed Authorization Form for no-contact outdoor pickups.
- SEEL Recycling picks it up and confirms it works.
- Receive a rebate check by mail within six weeks.

Do I need to be a Public Service Electric and Gas customer?
Yes. It’s only for homes in Public Service Electric and Gas customers, New Jersey. See Do I qualify for the details.
Do renters qualify?
You must own the appliance, and it must be picked up at your PSE&G service address. Renters who own the appliance and hold the PSE&G account qualify.
What’s the deadline?
No fixed deadline. Apply any time while it’s open.
Is it still available?
Yes. It was open when we last checked, on October 25, 2026.
Can PSE&G pick up just a room air conditioner?
No. Room air conditioners and dehumidifiers must be picked up along with a refrigerator or freezer.
What if my fridge isn't plugged in?
The crew will take it and test it at the recycling facility; if it doesn't work there, you won't get a rebate.

SEEL Recycling, on PSE&G's behalf. Crew members carry photo ID, and you can verify them at 1-844-356-4608.
Can I recycle a small appliance without a fridge pickup?
Only at a PSE&G drop-off event, where residential electric customers can get a $50 rebate for each working room AC or dehumidifier, up to four per household.
