Amounts

How much you get

$750 for a heat pump at the federal minimum (13.4 SEER2/6.7 HSPF2 package, 14.3 SEER2/7.5 HSPF2 split), $1,000 for ENERGY STAR (15.2 SEER2 with 7.2 HSPF2 package or 7.8 HSPF2 split), $500 for a 14.3 SEER2/7.5 HSPF2 ductless mini-split. The amount depends on which of these fits your install.

What you installYou get
Federal minimum heat pump (13.4 SEER2/6.7 HSPF2 package or 14.3 SEER2/7.5 HSPF2 split)$750
ENERGY STAR heat pump (15.2 SEER2/7.2 HSPF2 package or 15.2 SEER2/7.8 HSPF2 split)$1,000

Eligibility

Do I qualify?

You need to meet all 4 of these.

  • Residential member of a participating East Kentucky Power member co-op.

  • Must replace an existing electric furnace, baseboard heat, electric thermal storage or ceiling cable heat. Replacing a heat pump with a heat pump doesn't qualify here.

  • Existing home at least two years old; new manufactured homes also qualify.

  • New heat pump rated at least 14.3 SEER2/7.5 HSPF2.

Equipment

What equipment counts

The program sets these minimums.

  • At least 14.3 SEER2/7.5 HSPF2.

  • 15.2 SEER2/7.8 HSPF2 split or 15.2 SEER2/7.2 HSPF2 package (ENERGY STAR).

Applying

How to apply

Follow these steps.

  1. Call your co-op before removing the old heat.

Some co-ops (e.g. Fleming-Mason) require an energy advisor visit to verify the electric resistance heat before it is disconnected.

  2. Install a qualifying heat pump.

At least 14.3 SEER2/7.5 HSPF2; ENERGY STAR for the higher rebate. Keep the AHRI certificate.

  3. Apply to your co-op for the rebate.
