Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
Run by Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC)
Free home energy audit and weatherization (air sealing, insulation, heating and cooling repair or replacement and more) for Kansas homeowners and renters with income up to 200% of the federal poverty level, or who received SSI, TANF or LIEAP.
Amounts
How much you get
Free. A certified energy auditor finds the home's inefficiencies and health and safety problems, and crews and contractors make the upgrades at no charge to income-eligible households. The work varies by home.

What to doApply for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) during its winter application period.
Homeowners and renters can both apply.
Your household must live in the home, and electric and gas service must be on.
A home weatherized by a federal, state or local program in the past 15 years isn't eligible (unless uninsured fire, flood or act-of-God damage). After 15 years it may qualify again, but measures already done won't be repeated.
The home must be safe and in good enough shape to weatherize; providers can postpone or deny service for mold, major roof or structural problems, planned remodeling or other health and safety concerns.
