Eligibility

Do I qualify?

You need to meet all 5 of these.

  • Duke Energy residential electric customer.

  • Single-family and multi-family homes, condominiums, mobile homes on permanent foundations, townhomes and duplexes.

  • Equipment must be installed by a participating Smart $aver contractor.

What to doUse Duke's Find It Duke site to pick a participating contractor before work starts. Get a quote from a contractor

  • Equipment must be AHRI certified with ECM motors and meet the SEER2/EER2/HSPF2 tier for the rebate. Central air conditioners, air-source heat pumps and geothermal units need program-specific duct sealing.

What to doAsk the contractor for a system that meets the tier in the rebate table, and for the program's duct sealing. See what equipment counts

  • Early-replacement rebates need a system that still works: it must still provide both heating and cooling and cannot have a failed compressor, cracked heat exchanger or large refrigerant leak.

What to doReplace the system before it fails to qualify for the higher early-replacement amount.
