North Shore Gas customers who own a 1-4 unit home, condo or mobile home can borrow $500 to $20,000 at a fixed rate for efficiency upgrades, repaid through a monthly charge on the gas bill.

How much you get
An unsecured on-bill loan of $500 to $20,000 at a fixed 7.49% rate (rates subject to change), with 1, 3, 5, 7 or 10-year terms (7 and 10 years only above $8,000). No fees, points or closing costs, no prepayment penalty, and up to 100% of installation costs.

You need to meet all 5 of these.
North Shore Gas customer with an active account in good standing; all parties named on the utility account must apply.
You must own the property; for rentals the owner applies and must be named on the utility bill.
Single-family (1-4 unit) homes, condominiums and mobile homes.
You must meet the lender's credit and utility eligibility standards at application and again at loan closing.
Work must be done by an EFS-authorized contractor.

How to apply
Get approved before you buy anything.
- Choose an eligible upgrade and an EFS contractor.
Eligible measures include 95% AFUE furnaces and boilers and air sealing and attic insulation that meet the rebate program's requirements.
- Apply before the work starts.
Apply online at ilenergyloan.com, by PDF application mailed or faxed to EFS, or call 1.877.923.2665 for a packet.
- Sign loan documents, then have the work done.
Work may start after the documents are accepted and the cancellation period ends. Sign the Certificate of Completion when finished; EFS pays the contractor.
- Repay on your gas bill.
The installment appears as a separate line on your monthly bill. If you move, the full balance is due with your last bill.
