Run by DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU), for the DC Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE)

Free whole-home switch from gas or oil to electric (heat pump, heat pump water heater, induction stove, heat pump dryer, thermostat) for DC homeowners and renters at or below 80% of area median income. The upgrades are done at no cost to the household: no payments, no fees, and the home isn't used as collateral. The scope depends on what gas or oil equipment the home has.

Eligibility

Do I qualify?

You need to meet all 6 of these.

  • Your home is in DC.

  • Household income at or below 80% of area median income, using the limits for federally funded (IRA) projects, for example $132,900 for a household of 4. Households enrolled in SNAP, TANF, SSI, LIHEAP, Solar for All, the Weatherization Assistance Program or other government assistance qualify through that program instead.
