Eversource and UI customers get $900 off an ENERGY STAR heat pump water heater, instantly at Lowe's, Home Depot or distributors, or by mail-in rebate. Income-verified households can add $1,000 toward contractor installation.

Eligibility
Do I qualify?
You need to meet all 3 of these.
Residential electric customers of Eversource or UI.
Purchase between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026 of an ENERGY STAR certified unit meeting the UEF minimums.
For the extra $1,000: income verified through the Energize CT Income Verification Portal (the enhanced tier is for households above 60% of state median income and below 80% of area median income), and installation by a licensed contractor. Verify income at the Energize CT Income Verification Portal before applying.

What equipment counts
The program sets these minimums for water heaters.
- Heat pump water heaters
ENERGY STAR certified integrated HPWH with UEF of at least 3.40 (or at least 2.20 for 120 volt/15 amp units).
- Heat pump water heaters
Split-system HPWH with UEF of at least 2.20.
Applying
How to apply
Follow these steps.
- Buy at a participating Lowe's or Home Depot with an instant rebate.
Validate eligibility online to get a bar code or coupon code; $900 comes off at checkout.
- Or have your contractor buy from a participating distributor.
A $900 instant discount is applied automatically.
- Or buy elsewhere and apply for the $900 rebate online or by mail.
- Income-verified households: apply for the $1,000 installation incentive on the Rebate Portal.
Submit after installation with the contractor's detailed invoice. You can apply even if you got an instant discount.
