Income-qualified residents of San Mateo County and Los Banos get $2,000 off a used plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicle at least two model years old, as an instant rebate at a participating dealership.

Modified adjusted gross income of $43,280 or less for 1 to 2 people, $54,640 for 3, $66,000 for 4, plus $11,360 per additional person (show your latest 1040). Or qualify through a program in the next rule.

Or participate in an eligible program, such as CARE, FERA, CalFresh, WIC, CalWORKs, SSI, LIHEAP, Clipper START, free or reduced school lunch, or live in affordable or public housing or use a Section 8 voucher.
You haven't received a WestLight Energy used EV rebate before.
Buy at a participating dealership; private-party, online-retailer (e.g. Carvana) and other dealership purchases don't qualify.

Used plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicle, two model years old or older; no minimum electric range and no price cap.
Applying
How to apply
The discount comes off at the register.
- Check your eligibility.
Confirm your income or program enrollment and that the car is an eligible used EV.
- Buy at a participating dealership.
Bring your driver's license (and proof of residency if its address isn't in San Mateo County or Los Banos).
- Get the rebate at purchase.
The dealer applies $2,000 off and submits the paperwork for you.
