Income-qualified MCE customers get $3,500 off a new or $2,000 off a used EV or plug-in hybrid (cash price $55,000 or less), bought or leased at a participating dealership.

Eligibility
Do I qualify?
You need to meet all 4 of these.
MCE customer, or living in a household that receives MCE service; the car must be registered at the address on the PG&E bill.
Household income at or below 400% of the 2026 federal poverty level: $63,840 (1 person), $86,560 (2), $109,280 (3), $132,000 (4), up to $222,880 (8), plus $22,720 per extra person. Or enrolled in CalWORKs/TANF, CAPI, Clean Cars 4 All, DCAP, income-qualified Medi-Cal, HUD Section 8 or SSI.

No MCE EV Instant Rebate in the past 24 months; keep the vehicle at least two years.
Buy or lease at a participating dealership and request the rebate before the transaction is completed; it can't be applied afterward.

What equipment counts
The program sets these minimums for ev charging.
New or used battery EV or plug-in hybrid with a final purchase price of no more than $55,000; fuel-cell and non-plug-in hybrids excluded. New means under 7,500 miles and never sold at retail or registered.

How to apply
The discount comes off at the register.
- Confirm you're eligible.
MCE service plus the income or program requirement.
- Pick a participating dealership.
- Request MCE's EV Instant Rebate at the dealership.
Show ID, complete the brief online Customer Orientation and fill in the Customer Eligibility Form by hand before signing.
- Get the discount at purchase or lease.

Can more than one person in a household get the rebate?
Yes. More than one person in a household can apply, but each person is limited to one rebate in a two-year period.
Does it work at Tesla?
Yes. Ask the Tesla representative to apply MCE's EV Instant Rebate as a line-item discount before you complete the transaction; Tesla files the rebate with MCE.
