Amounts

How much you get

Incentives are calculated from each project's metered energy savings and passed to you as a price reduction by the contractor. Example amounts: heat pump HVAC or heat pump water heater $750 for a standard project, $1,500 for residents meeting equity criteria. Amounts can vary significantly by project.

  • Single-family homes and 1-4 unit properties (renters included) in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara or Ventura County.

  • Work must be done by a 3C-REN enrolled contractor, who confirms eligibility and reserves the incentive before the project.

What to doHire a contractor from 3C-REN's Contractor Directory or submit the interest form to be connected with one.

  • The project must produce metered gas or electric savings; new gas equipment isn't eligible.

  • You sign a data authorization form so 3C-REN can use your meter data to measure savings.

What to doSign the data authorization form your contractor provides.

  • Larger 'equity' incentives: in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties for residents who meet one of: primary language other than English, CARE/FERA enrollment, living in a manufactured/mobile home, or membership in a California Native American Tribe; in Ventura County for residents in a Disadvantaged Community, on CARE/FERA, tribal members, or meeting all three of language, rate and housing type.

Applying

How to apply

Your contractor applies for you. Get approved before you buy anything.

  1. Find an enrolled contractor.

Submit the interest form or pick a contractor from the 3C-REN Contractor Directory.

  2. Contractor checks eligibility.

Give the contractor your electric and gas account numbers and sign the data authorization form.

  3. Pre-approval.

The contractor estimates savings and submits the project to 3C-REN, which calculates and reserves the incentive.

  4. Install and save.

The incentive appears as a price reduction on the contractor's invoice; 3C-REN pays the contractor after completion.
