Scottsboro Water, Sewer and Gas Board pays residential gas customers $300 per gas tank or tankless water heater and $100 per gas clothes dryer or range/cooktop, by check, after an inspection. Installation by a licensed Alabama Gas Fitter is required; the program ends when funds run out.

You need to meet all 3 of these.
Residential customers only; not available to commercial and industrial customers.
The appliance must be installed to local code by a licensed Alabama Gas Fitter, who must be present for the Board's inspection.

The receipt must show the appliance was bought after January 1, 2026, and the appliance must be installed before the program ends. Eligibility is at the General Manager's sole discretion.

How to apply
You apply in person. The program ends without notice when funds are no longer available.
- Buy the new gas appliance (after January 1, 2026) and keep the receipt.
- Have a licensed Alabama Gas Fitter install it to local code.
- Submit the signed rebate form with your receipt.
- Allow an inspection by the Board, with your gas fitter present.
Inspections are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
