You pay for the co-op's Rheem water heater plus tax up front; once the installation is inspected, Pioneer refunds the purchase price (not the tax). The amount depends on which of these fits your install.

The new electric water heater must replace a gas water heater, or be for a new home being built.
The water heater must be bought from Pioneer Electric (Rheem 40- or 50-gallon) and inspected after installation.
