Alabama Power Smart Financing lends Alabama single-family homeowners $2,000 to $25,000 at 9.9% to 19.9% APR, over 60 or 84 months, for heat pumps, HVAC, insulation, windows, water heaters, EV charger installs and more, applied for through an approved dealer. You don't have to be an Alabama Power customer.

How much you get

Loans from $2,000 to $25,000, at 9.9% to 19.9% APR depending on credit, with 60- or 84-month terms. Payments are billed through an Alabama Power account (one is set up for non-customers). These are market-rate loans subject to credit approval.

Eligibility

Do I qualify?

You need to meet all 6 of these.

  • Your home is in Alabama.

  • The applicant or co-applicant must own the home and land as shown on the deed (not a trust or LLC). Renters and rent-to-own buyers can't apply unless the deed holder is a co-applicant.

  • Single-family homes in Alabama; multi-family and commercial properties aren't included. Mobile homes qualify only if the applicant owns both the home and the land.

  • Applicant and co-applicant must be at least 19.

  • Apply through an approved Smart Financing service dealer.

  • All loans are subject to credit approval; rates depend on creditworthiness. If you are an Alabama Power customer, the account holder must be the applicant or co-applicant.

How to apply

Your contractor applies for you.

  1. Find an approved Smart Financing service dealer.
  2. Apply with the dealer, or get pre-approved in the Smart Financing app.
  3. Compare the rate options offered and sign the loan documents electronically.
  4. The dealer completes the project.
  5. Repay monthly on your Alabama Power bill account.

Can I get a second loan while I still owe on one?

Yes, subject to credit approval, up to $25,000 combined with your existing loan.
