Open Checked Oct 27, 2026

Amounts

How much you get

A one-time $10,000 rebate per home, paid by check to the homeowner after construction is complete and documented. A 6-Star home gets the same $10,000. AHFC issues a 1099-G for it.

Eligibility

Do I qualify?

You need to meet all 7 of these, plus one that applies only in some cases.

  • Your home is in Alaska.

  • The home's foundation must be completed and inspected on or after January 2, 2025. Homes whose construction began before that date don't qualify.

  • The home must meet a 5-Star Plus or higher energy rating, certified by an AHFC-authorized energy rater (PUR-101).

What to doHave an AHFC-authorized energy rater do a rating from your plans before construction, then the final rating when the home is done. You pay the rater's fees. See what equipment counts

  • The home must be owner-occupied and your primary residence. You don't have to be an Alaska resident already.

  • Single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes where the owner lives in one unit. One rebate per building. Five or more units, mobile units, temporary dwellings and investment properties don't qualify, and developers can't apply.

  • Construction must be completed within 18 months of applying; reservations expire after 18 months.

  • One state-funded rebate per applicant or household; you can apply for a new rebate two years after receiving the previous one.

  • Only in some cases

If a contractor builds the home, AHFC checks that the contractor has an active Contractor License and a Residential Endorsement License. Owner-builders can apply.

Applying

How to apply

You apply online. Open until funding is exhausted, first come, first served. Unfinished homes must be completed within 18 months of applying.

  1. Check eligibility.

Foundation completed and inspected on or after January 2, 2025; owner-occupied 1-4 unit home; 5-Star Plus or better.

  2. Get an energy rating from plans (if the home isn't built yet).

An AHFC-authorized energy rater, or a letter signed by your builder, shows the plans will meet 5-Star Plus.

  3. Apply online.

Submit the application and documents; you need an email address. If the home isn't finished, AHFC preliminarily approves and reserves $10,000 for 18 months.

    Go to alaskahousingenergy.us

  4. Finish construction and submit final documents.

Proof of ownership, a PUR-101 showing 5-Star Plus or higher, a PUR-102 or Certificate of Occupancy, and a W-9.

  5. Receive the check.

AHFC expects processing to take about 30 days; you get a 1099-G at year end.

$10,000 back.

Do renters qualify?

The home must be owner-occupied and your primary residence. You don't have to be an Alaska resident already.

Do I have to use a contractor?

Yes. If a contractor builds the home, AHFC checks that the contractor has an active Contractor License and a Residential Endorsement License.

No fixed deadline. Apply any time while it’s open.

Is it still available?

Yes. It was open when we last checked, on October 27, 2026.

Does my home loan have to be with AHFC?

No. Energy rater fees and travel costs are not reimbursed, whether or not a rebate is approved.
